Google Nexus S Review - Digital Trends

Google-Nexus-S-Digital-Trends.jpg

A review of the Google Nexus S phone has been posted over at Digital Trends. 'Inside, while both sport a 1GHz processor, the Nexus S runs Google's latest and fastest Android OS, v2.3 Gingerbread, while Vibrant runs 2.2 Froyo. Both phones include a 5-megapixel camera, but the Nexus S includes an LED flash. The Vibrant includes 720p high-definition recording, while the Nexus S mysteriously records only 720 x 480. The phone's singular breakthrough is the inclusion of NFC, near field communication. Wave the Nexus S over an NFC tag, such as an RFID (radio frequency identification) code, from an inch or two away to initiate or perform all manner of functions.'

Google Nexus S Review - Trusted Reviews

Google-Nexus-S-Trusted-Reviews.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Google Nexus S handset. 'The Google Nexus S is the first phone to sport the latest version of Google's Android mobile phone operating system. Android 2.3 Gingerbread packs in a whole host of little and large tweaks including an improved interface, support for Near Field Communication (NFC), better battery management, and improved text editing and typing. As for the phone, it's not a massive breakthrough in terms of hardware and is in many ways just a tweaked Samsung Galaxy S. However, it is very competent and combined with the software, it makes for one of the most desirable handsets currently available. You can pick one up for £429.95 SIM free from carphonewarehouse or it can be had for free on £35pm, 24 month contracts on a variety of networks.'

Google Nexus S Review - 3G.co.uk

Google-Nexus-S-3G-co-uk.jpg

3G.co.uk have published a review of the Google Nexus S handset. 'The Nexus One measures up well - it's a little larger than an iPhone 4 but has a bigger, 4-inch screen (compared with the iPhone's 3.5-inch display) because it takes up more of the front of the handset. (note that the Retina Display on the iPhone has a higher resolution). Besides, the Nexus S is far easier to slip into a pocket than the HTC Desire HD, which has a 4.3-inch display. The display is an AMOLED screen, so is really bright with fantastic vivid colours that really do justice to the live wallpapers that Android is well known for. The latest incarnation of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) also has an extra animated background entitled Microbes. It doesn't matter which wallpaper you choose though, they're all certain to catch the eye.'

Google Nexus S Review - Tech Radar

Google-Nexus-S-Tech-Radar.jpg

Tech Radar have published their "Hands on" review of the new Google Nexus S phone. 'It's being called 'Pure Google', which is a way for the search giant to distance itself from the kerfuffle surrounding the delays perceived by network-issued updates. But in reality, the second you pick up the phone you realise it's leaning very heavily on the design aesthetic from the Samsung Galaxy S. Only a shade heavier at 129g, the Google Nexus S feels light in the hand, and with that lacks the 'premium' feel the iPhone 4 and HTC Desire HD both bring through their metallic chassis.'

Google Nexus One Review - Computeractive

Google-Nexus-One-Computeractive.jpg

A review of the Google Nexus One android handset has been posted over at Computeractive. 'The Nexus One is very fast and responsive. It has a new processor, which explains the extremely fast speeds and smoothly animated backgrounds. Those backgrounds are enjoyable, though they do not help battery life, which is about average for a smartphone - that is, you will need to recharge it each day to be sure you will have enough power for all the calls, email-checking, web-surfing and navigation you have in front of you.'

Google Nexus One Review - Reg Hardware

Google-Nexus-One-Reg-Hardware.jpg

Reg Hardware have published their review of the Google Nexus One Android smartphone. 'The curved edges and sleek, slim profile make the Nexus One feel good in the hand, especially because of the metallic frame and rubber-paint back. It's light but solid, and the phone's look is completed with a white trackball, front and centre under the display. It's another way to navigate the touchscreen and it pulsates with light when you receive a notification. Beyond that, there's a volume rocker on the left edge and a power button on. That's the outside for you, and very successful it is, too. But software is key with Android phones and the latest version - 2.1, aka Eclair - has pleasant extras which add hugely to the functionality of the phone. Best of these is voice recognition, an expanded version of the audio capabilities of the Google Mobile app.'

Google Nexus One Review - The Gadgeteer

Google-Nexus-One-The-Gadgeteer.jpg

The Gadgeteer have published a review of the Nexus One Android smartphone. 'The Nexus One is much sleeker than the G1 ever dreamed of being. The metal frame has a Titanium finish that's very stylish. The sides of the Nexus are rounded and smooth. The phone is very comfortable in hand and has a nice heft to it. It's very solid and had no problems passing the Gadgeteer squeeze test. No creaks, cracks, or flexing was noticed. The majority of the phone's front is taken up by the gorgeous 3.7″ touch display. Below the display is a strip of backlit touch buttons and below them is the combination trackball, status LED.'

Google Nexus One Review - Pocket-lint

Google-Nexus-One-Pocket-lint.jpg

Pocket-lint have published their review of the Google Nexus One Android mobile. 'It comes with 512MB of internal memory, and a 4GB microSD card for storage. Unfortunately, due to the limitations of Android you can't store apps on the SD card - they have to sit in the memory, meaning that you're entirely likely to run out of space if you go crazy downloading extra content. This is a problem, but not one that's exclusive to the Nexus One, which actually has more storage than most of its Android competitors. The microSD slot can take cards up to 32GB, if you want to go crazy loading music onto it.'

HTC Nexus One Review - Dev Hardware

HTC-Nexus-One-Dev-Hardware.jpg

Dev Hardware have published their review of the HTC Nexus One (T-Mobile) handset. 'The basic features of the Nexus One include a speakerphone, an alarm clock, a reminder feature, and a calendar. You can store as many contacts in its phone book as will fit onto the available memory. You can input several phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, and more for each contact. Contacts can be divided into separate groups for easier access. To help save time with inputting all of your contacts manually, the Nexus One can sync to your Gmail account, Facebook account, or Microsoft Exchange account to import pre-existing contacts automatically. You can also allocate a photo and a ringtone to each contact if you wish.'
