Samsung Blackjack II Review - ZDNet

Samsung-Blackjack-II-ZDNet.jpg

A review of the Samsung Blackjack II Windows Mobile Smartphone has been posted over at ZDNet. 'The Samsung Blackjack II is a very professional looking device and is rock solid in your hand. The front has a glossy burgundy finish and on the back you will find a textured plastic back that has the look and feel of leather. I like the way Samsung slimmed up the thickness as much as possible with the camera protruding out a bit further than the rest of the back. A chrome band goes around the entire device to add a professional look and some strength, although this band does pick up fingerprints quite easily.

Palm Centro - PC Mag

Palm-Centro-PC-Mag.jpg

A review of the Palm Centro (Verizon) smartphone has been posted over at PC Magazine. 'The Centro has always been a good voice phone, and the Verizon version continues that streak. Compared directly with an original Verizon Motorola Q—a perennial benchmark for voice quality—the Centro is just as clear and punchy sounding. If anything, it had a bit more gain in both directions. Its reception also matched the good quality of the Q's both indoors and out. In addition, it's easy to hold for long periods due to its lightweight design and curved shape. The Centro sounded full and clear when paired with a Cardo S-800 Bluetooth headset, and its speakerphone was louder than I expected given the handset's small size.

LG Dare - CNET

LG-Dare-Review.jpg

CNET have published thier review of the LG Dare (Verizon Wireless) feature-rich handset. 'Like all touch-screen phones, the LG Dare's design is dominated by a large display covering almost the entirety of the phone's front surface. Indeed, the only visible keys on the front are the Call, Clear/Voice command, and End/Power keys at the very bottom. The Dare is quite a bit smaller than both the iPhone and the Samsung Instinct, measuring only 4.1 inches long by 2.2 inches wide by 0.5 inch thick. It has a stainless steel border along its sides, and a black soft touch surface on the back that gives it a nice grip in the hand. It weighs about 3.76 ounces, which gives it a light yet solid feel.

Nokia N96 - PC Advisor

Nokia-N96-Review.jpg

PC Advisor have published their review of the Nokia N96 multimedia handset. 'An HSDPA 3.5G phone with aGPS (advanced global satellite positioning), the Nokia N96 allows photos to be tagged with geographical information before being uploaded to an online gallery. Getting online couldn't be easier – the Nokia N96 quickly locates wireless networks, and we were impressed by the critical internet access, call and messaging features. While you can't yet make use of the Nokia N96's integrated DVB-H digital TV, you can subscribe to and download TV programmes, or stream them if you've a robust web connection.'

HTC Touch XV6900 Review - MobileBurn

HTC-Touch-XV6900.jpg

MobileBurn have publsihed a review of the HTC Touch XV6900 Verizon smartphone. 'At 102mm x 60mm x 14mm (4.0" x 2.4" x .6") in size, the new XV6900 for Verizon is 2mm longer than the original GSM device, but still quite small for a smartphone with these capabilities. At 111g (4.0oz), it is also pretty light for a Pocket PC smartphone. By comparison, other HTC PocketPC devices like AT&T's Tilt look like giants next to the XV6900 and weigh 63g (2.2oz) more.

Nokia E66 - MobileTechReview

Nokia-E66-MobileTechReview.jpg

MobileTechReview have publsihed a review of the Nokia E66 (US model E66-2) smartphone. 'The E66 represents the latest evolution of Nokia's E series business smartphones. It runs Symbian OS 9.2 and Nokia S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 with enhancements. With Feature Pack 2 phones like the Nokia N78 just starting to ship, we were surprised that the E66 still runs Feature Pack 1, but it has demand paging for improved speed and enough other tweaks that we don't mind. The phone has a few new features like Modes (a way to switch between 2 customized themes) and automatic screen rotation when the smartphone is turned (via an accelerometer). The phone uses the accelerometer in two other cool ways: like the HTC Diamond, simply turn the phone face down to silence incoming calls (and snooze reminders); tap the phone twice to silence it. These accelerometer-based features can be turned on and off in settings.'

Nokia E66 Review - Technology Reviews

Nokia-E66.jpg

Technology Reviews have published a review of the feature-rich Nokia E66 smartphone. 'The E66 is a capable multimedia device as long as you have a large enough memory card. It is capable of supporting a Micro SDHC card up to 8GB in size. The music software is very easy to use and well organized, but slow to load. The E66 also supports several different video types, although we noticed it has trouble playing higher-quality video. The E66’s 3.2-megapixel camera takes very good photos, although not as good as other Nokia phones like the N95. Still, the quality of photos is well above average for a cell phone, and the video quality is also good. The camera interface is well organized and gives you quick access to most features.'

Samsung Soul SGH-U900 - ZDNet

Samsung-Soul-SGH-U900-ZDNet.jpg

ZDNet have published a review of the Samsung Soul SGH-U900 (unlocked) multimedia handset. 'Samsung loves its slider phones, so it's not surprising the company chose such a model for the Soul. But while many slider phones have flimsy, generic designs with unimaginative controls, the Soul takes a finer approach. The handset has a solid, firm feel in the hand and the slider mechanism is distinctly sturdy. The phone clicks into place in either position, and we could open and close it with one hand. Our only change would be the addition of a small thumb grip.

LG Dare Review - InfoSync World

LG-Dare.jpg

InfoSync World have published a review of the LG Dare (Verizon Wireless) multimedia touch phone. 'The LG Dare is an all-touch phone, meaning it has no hardware keypad for dialing or typing. Phones that forgo the keypad all rest on one attribute: the responsiveness of their touchscreens. Unfortunately, the LG Dare has some serious issues, and perhaps even some design mistakes, that make the touchscreen very difficult to use. The problem lies in scrolling, a common action on touchscreen phones. On the Apple iPhone, scrolling is a breeze, and it is easy to scroll through long lists by literally jogging with your fingers.
